If your PC's cannot connect to the AS/400, your ethernet line may need to be reset on the AS/400.
The status of the line should be ACTIVE. The status of the ETHERTCP should also be ACTIVE. If these are not correct, do the following:
1. Type ENDTCP on the command line and press enter. Wait for the "X" to go away at the bottom of the screen.
2. ENDHOSTSVR SERVER(*ALL) on the command line.
Do the following:
At an AS/400 command line, type:
3. WRKCFGSTS *LIN (press enter)
Put a number 2 next to the line that is your ethernet line (usually called "etherline") to vary off the Ethernet line and press enter.
Press F5 to refresh the screen. The status should go to Varied Off
Put a number 1 next to the line (usually the top entry in the list) to vary on the line and press enter.
Press F5 to refresh the screen. The status should go to Active. If the status does not go to Active, then you may have a cabling problem or a network problem. This will need to be resolved before you continue with the next step.
4. Type STRTCP and press enter. Wait for the "X" to go away at the bottom of the screen.
5. Type STRHOSTSVR SERVER(*ALL) and press enter. You may see a message "Unable to start host daemon jobs for IPX". This message is normal.
Your PCs should now be able to connect.
