Who answered a QSYSOPR message?

Use these steps to determine who answered a system operator message.

 

Make sure your output will NOT print to a printer - these steps may produce a large spooled file that you can review online and then delete - don't waste paper.

 

Type DSPMSG and press F4:

 

                            Display Messages (DSPMSG)      

                                                           

 Type choices, press Enter.                                

                                                           

 Message queue  . . . . . . . . . > QSYSOPR       Name, *WRKUSR

   Library  . . . . . . . . . . .       *LIBL               Name, *LIBL

 Output . . . . . . . . . . . . .     *print               *, *PRINT

 

Change the Output line to *print.

 

Press Enter.

 

Type WRKSPLF.        

 

Find the spooled file that looks like this:


Type a "5" by the file name, press enter.

 

These are the system operator messages since the last IPL (usually Sunday at 05:00 am).  Type a B to go the bottom for the most current messages, then start paging up for what you are looking for.  Or, if you know part of the exact message, you can do a search on the "Find" line and press F16 (it is case sensitive).

 

 File  . . . . . :   QPDSPMSG                      

 Control . . . . .                                 

 Find  . . . . . .   INQUIRY  

In the above example, user HUNTERS answered the message.
