Printing PDF documents from AS400 to PC (Including any PC applications as well)

Download the free software Cutepdf from www.cutepdf.com  

Click Download

Click Save – put in “downloads” folder – or create one.

 

Install the program – be sure and uncheck the 3 boxes (if presented) to NOT install things into your browswer.  Start from the bottom and uncheck up.

 

The program contact the internet and install an additional component and bring up a brief “DOS” window.

 

Then, you should be able to create a word document and choose file, print and see this in your list of printer drivers:

Creating an AS400 session as a PDF printer

 

Click on Start, Programs, iSeries Access for Windows, Emulator, then Start or configure session

Click on New Session

Name the printer

Click Printer

Click Setup

Click on File, printer setup, choose the CutePDF printer driver

Click File, page setup, select “best fit scaling”.

Change the window to be the same name as the printer name

 

Edit, preferences, appearance, window setup.

Click on File, Save As

Save printer session with same name as printer name

Drag the icon out with a right mouse drag to create a shortcut on the desktop

Session is now a shortcut on desktop.  Notice the little arrow – this indicates shortcut.

Now, print a report from the iSeries to the printer

 

 

 

Notice the file is now over on the CCIPDF printer.   Option 7 answers the message.

Take a G

Save the file.  This example has the save to the desktop – perhaps creating folders for ISIS reports/Sartox Reports/Auditor Reports/DPI Reports, etc?

 

 

 

 

 

Also name the PDF file name – the name defaults to the name of the printer

 

 

Open the PDF file to view.

The report from the iSeries is now a PDF
